The Signature Inn Berkeley Oakland offers a quirky, retro-inspired stay with a focus on location and value. While consistently praised for its safety and convenient access to Kaiser Hospital and local amenities, recent reviews highlight inconsistent cleanliness and occasional staffing issues.
This a lovely gated motel where the parking is free and the design is Mid Century Modern. Drew is the Manger and he is a wonderful person to work with! Come stay and enjoy Oakland and Berkley!
The FREE parking is NOT GUARANTEED. We were told AFTER booking that there wouldn't be parking on their property when we arrived on a Saturday evening. We would have to find street parking. DON'T be fooled by this place.
Stayed 2 nights mainly for the convenient location near my workplace. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel very safe; I saw a sheriff respond to a fight, and there was loud noise late at night from other guests. The room felt outdated, with low water pressure and cleanliness issues. Staff were friendly but often unavailable, requiring you to ring and wait for assistance.
Great place to stay. Clean hotel. Good food options on the same black. Masjid is 4 minutes away. It has a gate so it’s very safe. I would definitely stay here again in sha Allah.
We were able to pick a room with a lot of sunlight. The A/C worked very well. The water pressure/temperature was perfect. They let us check in late at night and were accommodating to help us on a late check out. Friendly front desk and friendly housekeeping. Parking was good and nice places to eat near by. Including a 7/11 for other needs 10 out of 10 Recommend!
I stayed here with my friend and its ran amazingly. Service and management and cleanliness is excellent and this is rhetorical second time we came back here. Definitely reserving here again
A very safe and comfortable motel with secure gate access — they only open the gate for customers, which makes it feel extra safe. Parking is limited but good enough for cars (not for heavy vehicles). The property manager, Dhruv (Drew), is very polite, respectful, and has great communication skills. He genuinely helps guests and offers fair prices. Highly recommended for tourists or anyone working at Kaiser Hospital since it’s just a short walk to the hospital, restaurants, and the college.
The gate at the Signature Inn Oakland damaged my car as I entered because it has no lights or sensors. From there, the experience only got worse. The manager, Dhruv (Drew), tried to isolate me from my travel partner and whispered disturbing things to me whenever he thought no one else could hear. The room itself looked like it had recently been breached — the doorframe was cracked from top to bottom, preventing it from closing securely. There was mold growing in the windowsill, and what appeared to be blood smeared on multiple surfaces throughout the room.
Best bang for your buck stay in the East Bay without sacrificing comfort. I didn't used to stay here every time I visited the bay, and now I've learned my lesson and stay only here when I'm in town. The inn has an intentional retro, pop art look. On the one hand, some of the rooms do seem a bit more warn than others - mostly the floors and sometimes the bedframe. But on the other hand, the rooms are always clean and comfy, and that's the most important part at the end of the day. Fully functioning showers with hot water and pressure too! And it's in a very safe part of town, and is also built like a fortress so you'll never need to worry about your car!
Room/ shower was hella dirty, says there is free parking but it’s first come first service, people allowed to block others in. It is a great location but be aware of the circumstances. I wouldn’t have stayed if someone else didn’t book it for me. It’s cute tho. An apartment turned into a motel. Has character
