The Hampton Inn Oakland Downtown-City Center receives mixed reviews, with some praising its location, cleanliness, and value, particularly the friendly service from certain staff members. However, recurring concerns exist regarding inconsistent service, uncomfortable beds, parking issues, and significant cleanliness problems, including bed bugs and unsanitary conditions.

Had a great time for several days as a guest but on the last day I checked out early even though I requested a late check out. The front desk attendant was so rude and dispreciecptful that I dropped my free 6am breakfast plate and forgot my strawberry waffle. The desk attendant did not help she just watched me struggle with my bags and never offered usage of the luggage carts. She told me “that’s how I am” and that she “didn’t care I was upset” and c” couldn’t talk to a manger until 9am so shut up and good luck!”. She then sat on her phone jn the guest food area. Definitely coming back here using my HH Honor points, but that front desk attendant needs to be dealt with. LOVE the fitness center, free breakfast. 24/7 security with a security intercom if you forget your key. Every other front desk attendant during my stay was lovely especially the Black girl with beautiful braids. As long as she continues to work there I’m always going to be returning! Her customer service is ??????????.

The hotel seems recently updated, with clean and functional rooms. The front desk staff were friendly. The breakfast buffet was entirely generic but acceptable. Only negatives were that the bed was softer than I prefer, and on Friday and Saturday nights I can hear the loud bass from the club a few buildings away. Be sure to bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper.

This is a very nice hotel. And you cannot beat the price. The rooms are new, clean, spacious. In the room, there is a fridge, microwave, coffee maker. All of the staff are very friendly and courteous. The free breakfast was decent (hot eggs, sausage and potatoes). There are security features built into the front door and elevator. If I am back in the area i will definitely stay again.

Hotel room and staff were great. Rooms were clean and spacious. Hotel only has valet parking and some rooms have views of the alley. Near Chinatown and easy access to freeway.

Pretty mid—location is decent, not too far from great areas of town without being in a terrible area and quick BART access. Room was clean and moderately cozy. Free breakfast was a plus and the food was fine, however the coffee was just undrinkable. Though they claim you can get a fresh set of towels during your stay, the housekeeper that I spoke to when looking for clean towels gave me such a hard time and acted like it was a massive inconvenience. That was disappointing and unnecessary. All in all, an okay stay. Not certain I would return.

The rooms are great and the free breakfast is a life saver, the only complaint is the lux club next door can be heard from any of the rooms that are in the teens.

This was a great last min find. Great price, clean hotel and comfy bed. Bed was a lil squeaky but otherwise great. The checkin person was welcoming and outgoing. It was very nice to be greeted by Alshanay. She took great care of us! My only negative is parking cost 50 bucks. Next time I will take ride share instead of drive . Overall would stay here again!!

Good price on the room, location is more than likely a block away from the reason you came and my only gripe is the side hustle they have on the parking. No there is not suitable parking available so expect to pay $50 dollars for a 3rd party valet service. Ummm actually, before finishing the review I found blood splatter so it dropped to 3.
