The Courtyard by Marriott Oakland Downtown receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the friendly staff and convenient location, while others express significant concerns about unreliable Wi-Fi, dated rooms, parking difficulties, and inconsistent service. Recent reviews indicate a decline in service quality and facility maintenance.
This hotel is nice gem! Customer service was 10000/10. Shoutout to Amika and Doroda for being so kind and professional! It really makes a difference when the team is welcoming at any hotel. The room was spacious and quiet. I’d stay here again.
I have no idea who is leaving good reviews here either they’re being paid or they’re blind. This hotel was so bad it was unreal. Stayed there an entire week and there was only 1 nice staff member. They don’t exactly advertise that there is 0 onsite parking and charge 54$ a day to valet. Or to park “somewhere else” in the middle of Oakland. Thanks. The room was very dated and dark. Clean bed and shower but the door would hardly close and blocked next to no noise. The AC would just stop running middle of the night and I’d wake up sweating. The thermostat was right next to the window so the rest of the room would be stagnate but the thermostat would think it’s ok. They have 1 washer and 1 dryer for the entire hotel. At least they had all the dumbbells on the rack in the gym. Sad excuse for a pool and no free breakfast or coffee available. My job paid for this stay and they’re the ones that recommended staying here and I STILL felt ripped off. Avoid this hotel if you have the choice I have never seen such a sad excuse for a Marriott.
Room big, clean and spacious but the bedsheets need to improve as can see dried stains though washed. Have self laundry washer n dryer at $2 each. The washer n Dryer need to be cleaned!!! Location good walking distance to the BART n good security. Quite pricey for the 24hr shop as nearby no convenience shop/mart after 6pm Have Smart TV to watch YouTube n Netflix but need own account not free.
I recently stayed here for 4 nights, I had an exam and was also working remotely, the wifi was not working at all, its was so bad, I called so many times to get it fixed however they were not able to fix it. I paid extra for wifi upgrade, and still it was only 1 Mbps speed!!! And the 5G was only coming near the windows, so I had to use that, sitting right beside the windows. It sucked!! I requested and called them so many times, I was on call with their tech team for almost 1 hour, and after that they said they will call back and no call back was given. I have stayed here before and wifi was great, but this time the wifi was working intermittently and erratically, and slowest speed! It was a horrible experience.
I wish I could give the location negative stars. I get that it’s Oakland, expectations are low, but at least have parking for your guests. All your guests. The advice given was “find another lot, don’t leave anything in your car”. Rooms fine, service was ok (aside from the restaurant that closed 45 minutes early). Don’t come here unless you absolutely have to.
I stayed overnight at this hotel and I do wish I had stayed longer. The ladies at the front desk were exceptionally kind and professional, and they really made me feel welcomed. While the location can get a little rough, it’s still very central to everything. The room was clean and spacious, though the bathroom could use an update. Also, some of the outlets in the room didn’t work very well, so I had to get creative. I’ll definitely stay here again my next visit to oakland!
Stayed here for 1 night. The hotel itself and the rooms are fine, but the disappointing service we received is what warrants a review. Upon check-in, I was offered the usual 4pm check out time for Platinum elite members. The morning of check-out, I called and requested late checkout until 1 or 2pm. The person I spoke to on the phone coldly denied my request for a later check out time and said that they do not offer or accommodate late check-out when the hotel is fully booked. I was very disappointed by the tone of the rude employee that I spoke to on the phone and that this Courtyard did not honor the late check-out benefit for Platinum members, despite originally offering me 4pm checkout. Would not recommend to those looking to leverage their status benefits.
I had an awesome stay. Michael provided stellar customer service with his personable conversation, attentiveness towards my needs, and sincerity in ensuring I felt comfortable during my stay. The establishment was clean, breakfast from the restaurant was delicious and it was the perfectly located near many eateries, bars, and Lake Merritt. I would stay here again in a heart beat!
Legit the best staff of any hotel ive ever been to. Caring staff that made us feel like family. Very very very informed staff and clean rooms. Check in and checkout was so smooth. Shout out to Kenya she's the LeBron James of hotel workers.
This was the most disappointing stay ever and the follow up was worse. The AC in the room was not working and there was no one sent to help fix it. The room got steadily hotter. The hallway was cooler than our room. There was no offer to give us another room (they were sold out apparently) or to relocate us. This was 9 pm at night when we were forced to find another hotel at a much higher rate since it was a last minute booking and we were traveling with children. The staff are not bothered to help their guests and in the hospitality industry this comes as a huge surprise. The follow up after we made a complaint took over a month and when it was made it was a half hearted attempt. The manager was rude, condescending and kept speaking over me mid- sentence. The staff at this hotel do not care about their customers. This is not the Marriott level of service because simply put this is hotel is not really a Marriott hotel. If I was the Marriott, I would be very careful who I allow to use my name. I would not recommend booking this hotel. There are many hotels that provide a better level of comfort and service for the same price.
